PC Software World ? Why Christians Fail at Net Advertising and ...

A Christian starts to feel about advertising online, and desires to marketplace to the Christian Online Market. Right after some extensive research, she or he finds the Christian Internet industry is saturated with multilevel, get-rich-quick, gifting, Ponzi schemes, and surf applications. The Christian either chooses to come to be involved in one with the above-mentioned schemes, pondering which is what Christians are looking for, or decides that Christians aren?t prepared to pay for great content material or services on the web.

However, the Christian is incorrect on each accounts. Christians are prepared to pay for very good content material and solutions on line, but regrettably sufficient, you will discover very couple of superior Christian solutions on the web. Why? Simply because marketers, both Christian and Secular alike, have assumed that Christians will not pay for online solutions, because they may be unwilling to devote revenue on-line. Which is the problem. Whilst quite a few Christians, in the earlier many years of the Web, may possibly have been reluctant to spend income on the net, with the introduction of better Online filters and screening software program, extra Christians are investing time on the internet. I contend that the only cause they don?t spend far more money on the internet is because of the dearth of very good Christian content material on line. I believe there is certainly a conspicuous absence of fantastic Christian content material on line, and i believe that people that phase up in 2006 and provide the content will get rich undertaking it.

That may well be considered a daring assertion, and some of you can give up studying suitable now. Go forward.

Individuals of you who are still studying, think about this for a second. When could be the ideal time to obtain involved in a new window of opportunity? When it initially gets to be a brand new window of chance, appropriate? I contend this calendar year, 2006, might be a break-out yr for Christian on the net advertising and sales.

Now, get me suitable right here. I do not suggest more Ponzi schemes and multi-level video games. I mean excellent, Christian, grounded, chockful-of-useful-information web-based content material. Content like facts supplies that train about common Christian topics like Christian self-improvement, Christian relationship, Christian achievement, and Christian values. Products like Christian guides, Christian videos, Christian web-sites, Christian marketing and advertising equipment, and Christian research.

A further vital position right here. These products must be two items: 1) Bona-fide faith-based solutions which are not ashamed from the Christian identity and 2) High-quality solutions that include as considerably or additional fantastic content like a competing secular item. You cannot assume that simply because a Christian sees an item using a Christian label that that may near the sale. It must be really worth each penny you price it at.

In order to get involved with Christian Internet Promoting, now could be the time. Get it done.

Android A to Z: DLNA

DLNA

DLNA, or the Digital Living Network Alliance is an organization set up by Sony in 2003 that determines a universal set of rules and guidelines so devices can share digital media. The devices covered include computers, cameras, televisions, network storage devices, and of course cell phones. The guidelines are built from existing standards, but manufacturers have to pay to use them and have their device join the DLNA.

With DLNA devices, you can share video, music and pictures from a Digital Media Server (DMS) to your Android phone or tablet. A DMS could be your computer, a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device, a television or Blu-ray player, or even another Android device. Anything that has a DLNA server, or can have one installed will act as a DMS. Fun factoid: when a DLNA server is installed on a cell phone, tablet, or portable music player it's called a M-DMS -- the M stands for Mobile.

Once a DLNA server is in place, our Android phones usually have two functions -- to act as a Digital Media Player (M-DMP) or a Digital Media Controller (M-DMC). The player is easy enough to figure out, it finds content on a DLNA server and plays it back. A DMC will find content on a DLNA server, and push it to another connected player. For example, my television has a DLNA player, and my laptop has a server. With the right software, I could use my Android phone to find the content on my laptop and play it on my television. DLNA can really be fun if you have all the right equipment.

But chances are Android (and eventually other mobile devices) will be moving away from DLNA. With Ice Cream Sandwich, Wifi Direct is part of the operating system and has the potential to do everything DLNA can do, and more. We already have seen it replace DLNA streaming in the HTC One series with the Media Link HD receiver, which streams content from a Sense 4 device to a monitor with HDMI input. It uses native Wifi Direct, and by all accounts works really nicely. Or Samsung, who is using NFC to kick off a Wifi Direct session for fast data transfer on the Galaxy S III. We'll have to wait and see what manufacturers do with Wifi Direct, because having it built into the OS is a big plus -- even for a company like Samsung who makes millions of DLNA devices each year.

Senators grill Secret Service boss on sex scandal

Secret Service chief Mark Sullivan was grilled Wednesday by the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee about the alleged hiring of Colombian prostitutes by Secret Service agents and whether the April incident was part of a larger problem at the agency.

By NBC News and news services

The alleged hiring of prostitutes?suggests a cultural problem within the Secret Service, Sen. Susan Collins said Wednesday amid reports of new evidence of law enforcement misconduct during the president's trip to Colombia.

"This was not a one-time event," Collins, the senior Republican on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said during?the first Senate?hearing on the matter.?"The circumstances unfortunately suggest an issue of culture."

"If only one or two individuals out of the 160 male Secret Service personnel assigned to this mission had engaged in this type of serious misconduct, then I'd think this was an aberration,"?the Maine senator?said.?"But that's not the case; there were 12 individuals involved . . . 12. That's 8 percent of the male Secret Service personnel in-country, and 9 percent of those staying at the El Caribe Hotel."

Service Service chief Mark Sullivan, who was called to testify at the inquiry, apologized "for the conduct of these employees and the distraction it has caused." But Sullivan's assertion that the agency has a "zero tolerance" policy on such conduct did not convince the lawmakers, who brought more allegations to light.

"We can only know what the records of the Secret Service reveal," said Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, who is leading the hearing. The?records, however incomplete, show 64 instances of allegations or complaints of sexual misconduct made against Secret Service employees in the last five years, he said.

Lieberman cited three complaints of inappropriate relationships with a foreign national and one of "non-consensual intercourse," which he did not elaborate on. Sullivan said that complaint was investigated by outside law enforcement officers who decided not to prosecute.

?

A Columbian escort spoke publicly on the radio this week claiming to be the one at the center of the Secret Service prostitution scandal and revealing her version of events. NBC's Mark Potter reports.

?

Sullivan also told the committee an agent was fired in a 2008 Washington prostitution episode, after trying to hire an uncover police officer.

DEA agents investigated for hiring prostitutes in Colombia

Wednesday's hearing was expected to expose new details in the scandal, which became public after a dispute over payment between a Secret Service agent and a prostitute at a Cartagena hotel on April 12. The Secret Service was in the coastal resort for a Latin American summit before Obama's arrival. Collins said several small groups of agency employees from two hotels went out separately to clubs, bars and brothels and they "all ended up in similar circumstances."

Secret Service head: Prostitution scandal was 'aberration'

Sullivan?was expected to face criticism from senators over his contention that the alleged hiring of prostitutes by?agents during the president's trip was an aberration.

Sullivan's prepared opening?testimony made only one oblique reference to the new allegations involving two DEA agents and a Secret Service agent who -- during a separate nightclub visit during the president's trip -- hired women to give them massages, according to sources who have been briefed on the episode, ?NBC News' Michael Isikoff reported.

Sullivan calls this "unrelated" to the allegations involving Secret Service agents who brought prostitutes back to their hotel rooms at the El Caribe Hotel.

In his prepared testimony, Sullivan said he found no evidence to substantiate a report of similar conduct during a presidential trip to El Salvador, but that the agency has imposed strict new rules for its agents, incuding a prohibition on visits to "disreputable" establishments and a ban on bringing any foreign nationals to their hotel rooms.

Colombia hookers not tied to cartels, terror group, Secret Service says

But lawmakers plan to grill Sullivan closely on whether the alleged misconduct reflected broader "cultural" problems within the agency.

NBC News national investigative correspondent Michael Isikoff and The Associated Press?contributed to this report.

Non-Profit Fundraising Expert Dan Portnoy Speaks at Ideation ...

PASADENA, Calif., May 23, 2012 ? Non-profit Fundraising consultant Dan Portnoy spoke at the Ideation Conference in Chicago recently as he taught seminar participants how to raise money for their causes by connecting emotionally with their audiences through the power of story, which is the main theme of his book, ?The Non-Profit Narrative.?

He also announced today that ?The Non-Profit Narrative? will be available for 24 hours as a free download at Amazon (http://amzn.to/J6x4wu) starting from 12 a.m. ? midnight Pacific time on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

?The book will help non-profit organizations and their marketing directors who are looking to connect with their audience using modern fundraising techniques. These good people are passionate about their causes and they want to make a difference in this world,? said Portnoy, president of Portnoy Media Group who consults with non-profits like United Way of Greater Los Angeles, International Justice Mission, and Union Rescue Mission.

?With the right story, managers at non-profit organizations can control their message and distribute it to their key donors who share their passion for their causes to help people, animals and issues,? said Portnoy, an in-demand speaker at conferences, conventions and company training sessions. For information about his speaking engagements, go to http://www.portnoymediagroup.com/speaking/.

?Non-profits, including schools, churches and associations, fail to connect emotionally with their donors. They present dry bullet points of facts and figures, which don?t motivate people. They need to tell stories which intrigue and excite people so they want to support their cause,? he said.

At the Ideation conference, Portnoy told a standing-room-only audience they could raise more money if they connect with your audience by telling your story in the best way possible.

The Ideation Conference is a unique conference experience that gathers some of the most innovative thinkers and practitioners in the field of social good (e.g., businesses, organizations, influencers, etc.) in order to help fellow practitioners develop thoughts and tangible next steps for greater impact in their respective work.

?When non-profits share their stories, donors share their wallets,? he said.

?The Non-Profit Narrative: How Stories Can Save the World? helps non-profit marketing thrive by telling great stories. The book also helps non-profit philanthropy learn how to:

Each chapter is designed to help non-profits apply storytelling principles to their day-to-day operations and communications for maximum impact. ?Each organization has a great story to tell and I want to encourage non-profits and NGOs to interpret fundraising and engagement through the perspective of storytelling,? said Portnoy, who has appeared on NPR and Fox Business.

Portnoy told the Ideation audience three fundraising tips for increasing donations through story telling:

  1. Build a story that?s true.
  2. Build a story that resonates.
  3. Keep the cookies on the bottom shelf ? make it easy for your audience to get to the good stuff!

?Every non-profit has their strength or magic key for connecting and engaging donors. Telling your story well across platforms is what this book can do for your organization,? he said.

This is so the romantic interests can decide on the prior relationships of their characters. Because it would be weird if they had lived in that small(ish) village as long as they did and didn't know each other.

To begin:

Kaia tends to keep to herself, although she does see Shuuji fairly regularly as she buys supplies for tending her beasts from him. Most villages would probably tend to avoid her because of her work with monsters and solitary nature.

Saia is far more social with the other villagers, and has probably gotten to know Ryuuji a bit because they both live outside town and she likes to visit his grandpa.

Ginko, feel free to disagree with these. I'll come up with something else. I will add on as more characters are approved.

Love/Hate Relationships

By Eckhart Tolle

The reason why the romantic special love relationship is such an intense and universally sought-after experience is that it seems to offer liberation from a deep-seated state of fear, need, lack and incompleteness that is part of the human ego condition in its unredeemed and unenlightened state. There is a physical as well as a psychological dimension to this state.

Physical

On the physical level, you are obviously not whole, nor will you ever be: You are either a man or a woman, which is to say, one-half of the whole. On this level, the longing for wholeness, the return to oneness, manifests as male-female attraction, man's need for a woman, woman's need for a man. It is an almost irresistible urge for union with the opposite energy polarity. The root of this physical urge is a spiritual one: the longing for an end to duality, a return to the state of wholeness.

Sexual union is the closest you can get to this state on the physical level. This is why it is the most deeply satisfying experience that the physical realm can offer. But sexual union is no more than a fleeting glimpse of wholeness, an instant of bliss. As long as it is unconsciously sought as a means of salvation, you are seeking the end of duality on the level of form, where it cannot be found. You are given a tantalThe reason why the romantic special love relationship is such an intense and universally sought-after experience is that it seems to offer liberation from a deep-seated state of fear, need, lack and incompleteness that is part of the human ego condition in its unredeemed and unenlightened state. Psychological

On the psychological level, the sense of lack and incompleteness is, if anything, even greater than on the physical level.?As long as you are identified with the ego mind, you have an?externally?derived sense of self. That is to say, you get your sense of?who you are?from things that ultimately have nothing to do with who you are:

  • external appearance,

  • belief systems, and so on.

Any thoughts or comments?

mysticmaze wrote today at 6:21 PM, edited today at 6:22 PMThis excerpt is basic stuff, but I like his use of the words, "special love relationship," which seems to be what most people crave, but "special" in this sense is a negative related to getting something for giving something which is how the ego merchandises itself.... believing that it is not whole.

I like that funny photo. The video question put to him, "Why is love not reciprocated" is a good one. He is always eloquent. It occurs to me that the "lack" he is describing - which the ego believes is real - is applicable to every relationship it forms.... not just romantic love... so the "lack" of emotional reassurance is all that the ego is craving and all our defensiveness grows out of the attempt to "get it."

As always, he is "right on" Wholeness is found within not in an another, and I agree, that holds for all relationships.

Google CEO rips Facebook over user data

7 hrs.

Google and Facebook aren't likely to ever friend or G-plus each other; the two compete intensely?over search, advertising and data collection. Google CEO Larry Page took quite a jab at Facebook on "The Charlie Rose Show," saying that Facebook is holding their "users hostage" when it comes to data sharing.

At issue is a longtime spat between the two Internet giants. Google used to let Facebook users import their Gmail contacts to Facebook if they wanted to do so. Then, in November, 2010, the search giant stopped allowing it because it said the?data flow was a one-way street with Facebook, which?doesn't let users share their Facebook contacts info with Gmail.

In the Monday night interview, Rose asked the Google CEO if he was worried about Facebook's "competition in search." Said Page (at about?12:48 minutes?into the interview): "It's something we take seriously?... I think it's been?unfortunate that Facebook has been pretty closed with their data."

Page said Google understands that when a user joins Facebook, he or she wants to be able to add their Gmail contacts to Facebook.?

"Google always said 'Fine, you can get them from Google.' The issue we had is that, then Facebook said, 'No, Google, you can't do the reverse. And so we just said, 'Well,?users don't understand what they're doing, they're putting data in, they don't understand they can't take it out ..??and so we said we'll only participate with people who have reciprocity. and we're still waiting (for reciprocity)."

The Google CEO was asked if he thought Facebook might change its position in the future.

I mean?hope so, I imagine they'll be forced to eventually, if they don't choose to. I think?the idea that you'd hold your users hostage and have some reasons for it that don't make sense ?... They claim it's a privacy issue, but it's not, really,?because they do it with Yahoo, they just don't do it with us. You don't want to be holding your?users hostage; we want there to be a competitive market ... so we think it's important that U.S. users of Google can take their data, and take it out if you need to, or take it somewhere else."

Asked about Page's remarks,?Facebook told msnbc.com it is declining to comment.

(AP) ? What's more unusual than a team hitting back-to-back homers? How about one fan catching both of them.

That's what Caleb Lloyd did on Monday night at Great American Ball Park.

The 20-year-old junior from Thomas More College was in left field when Reds pitcher Mike Leake hit his first career homer in the fourth inning. The ball went directly to Lloyd, who had never caught a ball at a game.

"It hit my hand," he said. "I didn't expect to actually catch it. I never actually caught a home run ball. It hurt really bad."

Three pitches later, shortstop Zack Cozart hit another one to the same area. The ball bounced right to Lloyd, who had one free hand.

"The second one bounced behind me and bounced right into my lap," he said. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh, that's just crazy!' I couldn't believe my eyes. Right now, I still can't believe it's happening."

He gave the second home run ball to the friend who had convinced him to go to the game and provided the tickets. Knowing it was Leake's first career homer, Lloyd saved that ball and offered it to the pitcher for an autograph after the game.

"I just wanted to meet him," Lloyd said, standing outside the clubhouse.

The Reds beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1.

Children Exposed to Smoking Face Long-Term Respiratory Risks

ScienceDaily (May 20, 2012) ? For more than three decades, researchers have warned of the potential health risks associated with exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), especially among children whose parents smoke. Now a new study conducted by researchers from the University of Arizona reports that those health risks persist well beyond childhood, independent of whether or not those individuals end up becoming smokers later in life.

The study will be presented at the ATS 2012 International Conference in San Francisco.

"This study shows that exposure to parental smoking increases the risk of persistence of respiratory symptoms from childhood into adulthood independent of personal smoking," said Juliana Pugmire, MPH, DrPH., research specialist at the University of Arizona in Tucson. "Persistent respiratory illness in childhood and young adulthood could indicate an increased risk of chronic respiratory illness and lung function deficits in later life."

Although a significant proportion of children throughout the world are exposed to ETS, primarily as a result of their parents' smoking, there is little information regarding the long-term effects of that exposure, Dr. Pugmire noted.

"Earlier studies established a link between parental smoking and childhood respiratory illness, but in this study, we sought to demonstrate whether these effects persisted into adulthood," she said. "A handful of studies examined whether children exposed to parental smoking had asthma that developed or persisted in adulthood but most did not find an association.

"We examined asthma as well as other respiratory symptoms and found that exposure to parental smoking had the strongest association with cough and chronic cough that persisted into adult life," she continued. "Exposure to parental smoking also had effects, although weaker, on persistent wheezing and asthma in adulthood."

The researchers drew data from the Tucson Epidemiological Study of Airway Obstructive Disease (TESAOD), a large, population-based, prospective study initiated in 1972 that enrolled 3,805 individuals from 1,655 households in the Tucson area in an effort to assess prevalence rates and risk factors of respiratory and other chronic diseases. Participants were asked to complete questionnaires that were issued every two years until 1996. For this study, the researchers used data from 371 individuals who were enrolled in the TESAOD as children.

"We identified individuals who entered the TESAOD study when they were under 15 years of age and who were followed to adulthood during the study," Dr. Pugmire said. "When we collected data from the child participants, we also collected information about the parents' smoking status."

Dr. Pugmire and her colleagues looked at the reported prevalence of active asthma, wheeze, cough and chronic cough, which was defined as a persistent cough that had occurred for three consecutive months. They then divided the data into four categories: never, which included individuals who had not reported that symptom during childhood or adulthood; incident, which included individuals who had never reported the symptom in childhood, but had reported at least one incident in adulthood; remittent, including participants who reported at least one incident in childhood and none in adulthood; and persistent, which included individuals who had at least one report of a symptom during both childhood and adulthood.

Once the data were collected, the researchers determined that 52.3 percent of children included in the current study were exposed to ETS between birth and 15 years. After adjusting for sex, age, years of follow-up and personal smoking status, the researchers found that ETS exposure in childhood was significantly associated with several persistent respiratory symptoms, including persistent wheeze, cough and chronic cough.

"Persistent wheezing from childhood into adult life has been shown to be associated with lung function deficits. Chronic bronchitis (defined as chronic cough and phlegm) is a significant risk factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) development later in life. Therefore, the persistence of symptoms like chronic cough and wheeze into young adulthood may indicate a susceptibility to lung function deficits and chronic respiratory illness with age," Dr. Pugmire noted.

Future studies will be needed to examine the potential synergistic effects of personal smoking and exposure to parental smoking on risk of COPD morbidity and mortality in middle to late adult life, she added.

Sigmoidoscopy an option for colon cancer screening

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Screening for colon cancer using a flexible tube -- which is less invasive and more convenient than colonoscopy -- may also help prevent new cases and deaths from the disease, a new study suggests.

In a large trial of more than 150,000 older U.S. adults, those who were randomly assigned to get screened using so-called flexible sigmoidoscopy on two different occasions were 21 percent less likely to get colon cancer than those not offered the screening.

They were also 26 percent less likely to die of cancer, probably because screening picked up pre-cancerous lesions and early-stage cancers before they could cause serious harm, researchers reported Monday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Colonoscopy "is a very unpleasant thing," said Dr. Alfred Neugut, an epidemiologist and oncologist from Columbia University in New York, who wasn't part of the study team.

"Sigmoidoscopy is a much less elaborate procedure, so you can basically walk into the doctor's office and get it on the spot? and it's much less invasive," he said.

Flexible sigmoidoscopy is one of three colon cancer screening methods recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, a government-backed body that sets screening guidelines.

The Task Force says that annual fecal occult blood testing, flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years with fecal testing every three years or colonoscopy every 10 years are all options for adults aged 50 to 75 at average risk of cancer.

But many Americans in that age group still don't get screened -- and one of the reasons may be the discomfort of preparing to get a colonoscopy, including taking laxatives, and the inconvenience and invasiveness of the procedure itself.

The new findings provide more evidence that sigmoidoscopy as an initial test -- followed by colonoscopy only in the case of positive findings -- may be a valid alternative, researchers said.

The data come from the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial, which compared new cases of cancer and cancer-related deaths in adults who did or didn't get different types of screening.

This analysis, led by Dr. Robert Schoen from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, involved 154,900 adults age 55 to 74 who were offered either two sigmoidoscopies, three or five years apart, or no colon cancer screening.

Over the next 12 years, there were 1,012 new cases of colon cancer in the screening group and 1,287 in the unscreened group. In addition, there were 252 related deaths among people offered sigmoidoscopy, compared to 341 in the unscreened group.

The lower mortality in the screening group seemed to be attributable entirely to fewer deaths from so-called distal colon cancer, which occurs in the part of the intestines closer to the rectum. There was no difference between the two groups in deaths from proximal colon cancer, which is cancer higher up in the intestines and beyond the reach of the sigmoidoscopy scope.

FALSE POSITIVES COMMON

The screening tests were not without their limitations. One in five men and one in eight women had a false-positive sigmoidoscopy, which resulted in more invasive testing that ultimately found no pre-cancers or cancers. In addition, 22 people suffered a bowel perforation either from the initial sigmoidoscopy or a follow-up colonoscopy.

A limitation of the trial itself is that the two study groups weren't as different as the researchers initially intended: almost half of people in the group assigned to no screening ended up getting a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy on their own during the study.

Trials in the UK and Italy have also suggested screening with sigmoidoscopy can reduce deaths from colon cancer.

Because of that, the UK plans to offer sigmoidoscopies free of charge to all adults in their mid-50s within the next five years, according to Wendy Atkin, a professor of gastrointestinal epidemiology at Imperial College London, who worked on the UK study.

"We need to revisit sigmoidoscopy in the United States," Atkin told Reuters Health.

Research suggests nurses can do the less-invasive test, she said. It's also significantly cheaper than colonoscopy -- at roughly $150, compared to about $1,000 for a colonoscopy.

Schoen doesn't expect colonoscopy to go out of style as the most popular method for colon cancer screening in the U.S. But, he added, flexible sigmoidoscopy as an initial test is a good choice for some people who want to avoid a colonoscopy unless it's completely necessary.

"Absolutely it's an option on the table," he told Reuters Health.

"If someone, for example, was afraid of anesthesia, if they want a test where the prep is not so aggressive -- they just take enemas as opposed to drinking laxatives, if they cannot spare a day? all those are good reasons if you want to go and have a (sigmoidoscopy)," Schoen said.

Neugut told Reuters Health many U.S. doctors don't do the less-invasive procedures anymore. But data are lacking to prove colonoscopy is any better than initially going for sigmoidoscopy, he said.

"Anyone who doesn't want to have a colonoscopy, they should consider sigmoidoscopy as certainly? a valid form of screening for colon cancer," Neugut said.

Spend some time shopping around before you commit to one lender. There are a ton of different payday loan companies, and each will have different interest rates, and different terms with their loans. If you take some time to look at multiple companies, you can save a lot of your hard-earned money.

Generally, payday loans are quick and easy to obtain, but they are very expensive. To get the money you need at a lower cost or no cost, you should consider asking some of your family or friends to borrow the money you need. By doing this, you can save some money and still have access to the funds you need.

If you are thinking that you may have to default on a payday loan, think again. The loan companies collect a large amount of data from you about things like your employer, and your address. They will harass you continually until you get the loan paid off. It is better to borrow from family, sell things, or do whatever else it takes to just pay the loan off, and move on.

Avoid taking payday loans out if you are already mired in a financial crisis. when you are having trouble making ends meet, it seems that this is the right time for a payday loan. If you need a payday loan, but have a poor credit history, you may want to consider a no-fax loan. This kind of loan is just like any other payday loan, except that you will not be required to fax in any documents for approval. A loan where no documents are involved means no credit check, and better odds that you will be approved.

When you find a good payday loan company, stick with them. Make it your goal to build a track record of successful loans, and repayments. By doing this, you may become eligible for bigger loans in the future with this company. They may be more willing to work with you, in times of real struggle.

Although nobody should depend solely on payday loans to get them through until the next paycheck, this is an option when money is needed for an urgent issue like a bill. Use payday loans wisely and occasionally, and you should have no problem. Remember these tips for the next time you need extra cash!

Want to buy a house after bankruptcy? - Finance Triggers

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Its scary how the economy has caused so many people to claim?bankruptcy. While it shouldn?t ever be anyone?s first choice, sometimes its the only choice left over after all of the other options have been exploited. Nowadays, people file for bankruptcy for a number of reasons. Some unexpected medical bills, the loss of a job or perhaps overwhelming debt can be some of the reasons for one to file for bankruptcy. One may then start thinking if it is possible to buy a home after bankruptcy. And the answer is in the affirmative. There are many mortgage companies and online lenders out there who offer home loans for even those who have bankruptcy on their credit report.

?

You will then have to rebuild your credit once your bankruptcy is discharged. You can do this by opening a credit card account to which you will have to make regular payments. Another alternative is to save for a considerable down payment as the larger the cash reserve is, the better the rates you will get! Check on your credit report to make sure that all accounts linked with your bankruptcy are closed. Remember- this takes a long time- years, in fact.

?

Make sure that the payment history information is right too as the difference in one late payment can greatly increase your interest rates by a percent or more. Once you improve your credit score through the repayment of the home loan, you can easily take out an equity loan on the home to consolidate any other debt you have since your bankruptcy or to use the extra cash on some business venture.

?

Before you actually start looking for the right house loan, it is better to look at your budget. Decide how much you can afford as a loan, how much you can make as a down payment, and the monthly payments you can make. With this information, you can decide how much loan to apply for, and the type of financing to opt for.

?

However, if you intend to live in that house for more than seven years, it is better to find a fixed rate mortgage as it saves money; in the long term. To get an idea of the type of loan to get, you could use a mortgage calculator for estimations.

?

Once you have an idea of the type of loan you need, you should start investigating the various financing companies. Lenders have little to lose when approving home loans after bankruptcy as the lender feels confident when your home serves as collateral for the loan. There are some lenders who need a certain amount of time to pass before approving for the loan. However, there are also lenders out there who will approve your loan even a day after the bankruptcy has been discharged.

?

Request free quotes and then investigate their rates. To get these quotes, you need only to furnish basic information, with no need of showing your credit card. This way your credit score is not affected. Once you get all the quotes, compare the APR for the real cost of the loan. It is no point just looking at the interest rates, as they are rather misleading.

?

Ask if there are any; fees related to the loan as if you plan in refinancing your home, you may have to pay thousands as fees. However, these fees can be negotiated.

Buying a house is still a possibility even after bankruptcy, but it takes longer and there are a lot hoops involved. Do your?research.

Today, Jenny Sangler at TheDailyRadish.com published their latest post, titled Starbucks Under Pressure to Remove Creepy Ingredient from their Strawberry Smoothies.

Vegetarians and foodie fans can access the new blog post here:

http://thedailyradish.com/starbucks-cochineal/

In their latest blog post, Jenny Sangler makes reference to one of her previous posts in which explains the wide use of cochineal a food dye made from crushed insects.

She explains that Starbucks have recently hit the headlines by using this same food dye in their Strawberry Frappuccino and Strawberry Smoothies in order to give them a pink tint.

An anonymous company employee, also a vegan, tipped the lid on Starbucks by revealing the use of this secret ingredient to This Dish is Veg, a popular website for those who are vegetarian. The whistle blower also included a photo of the ingredients.

Cochineal, although considered to be safe by the FDA, isnt suitable for vegans and anyone who doesnt want to consume a product made from crushed insects, vegan or otherwise, needs to be aware that it is a common addition to many pink and red-colored foods and drinks such as jelly, marinades, cheese and certain alcoholic drinks Jenny adds.

She continues to explain that Starbucks promptly issued a statement due to mounting pressure from the vegan community. Within the statement they claimed that they used the cochineal to continue their efforts to remove artificial ingredients from their products. However, even though they plan to use vegan ingredients where possible, they also stated that this can never be guaranteed.

Its unclear as to whether Starbucks have ever publicly claimed that these drinks were vegan-friendly, but it seems that the company is prepared to take the views of their vegan customers on board Jenny adds.

Jenny concludes her blog post by offering up some vegan alternatives to cochineal. These include purple sweet potatoes, beets or even, particularly in the case of Starbucks strawberries!

Galleon prosecutor aims to cement legacy in Gupta trial

NEW YORK (Reuters) - It was during a quiet afternoon in the sixth week of the insider-trading trial of hedge fund billionaire Raj Rajaratnam that prosecutor Reed Brodsky sprang one of those rare surprises usually seen only in the movie version of a courtroom drama.

Brodsky, a federal prosecutor since 2004, seemed to catch defense lawyers and witness Richard Schutte off guard with a blistering cross-examination in the 2011 trial. The former Rajaratnam right-hand man was forced to admit that the biggest investor in a new hedge fund he launched was none other than the Galleon founder.

The disclosure that Rajaratnam had invested millions of dollars in that fund undercut Schutte's testimony as a character witness for the defense and proved to be one of the most dramatic moments in the two-month-long trial. Rajaratnam was convicted by a Manhattan federal court jury in May 2011.

"It was a surprising development and Reed did a very good job of pulling that out," said Richard Holwell, the presiding judge in the case who is now retired from the bench and returned to private practice in his own law firm.

Brodsky is one of the key prosecutors leading an investigation that has lasted more than four years into insider trading in the $2 trillion hedge fund industry. He is now gearing up for another trial that many courtroom watchers say could be his last big case for the U.S. government.

The defendant this time is former Goldman Sachs Group director Rajat Gupta, who is accused of supplying illicit tips to Rajaratnam. Jury selection is to start on Monday in federal court in Manhattan.

To date, four other top prosecutors who worked alongside Brodsky in developing the investigations that have led to dozens of convictions have left the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan for private practice. It is possible Brodsky may be the next to leave the office, which is led by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

"After a high-profile prosecution, many prosecutors use the case as an opportunity to move to the private sector," said David Rosenfield, a former assistant U.S. attorney in New Jersey who is now counsel at Herrick Feinstein.

Brodsky, 42, declined to comment on the upcoming trial or on speculation about his next career move. A spokeswoman for Bharara also declined to comment.

REVOLVING DOOR

There is always a revolving door between the Justice Department and big law firms.

Jonathan Macey, a corporate finance and securities law professor at Yale Law School, said turnover is to be expected with long-running cases and there are always more young prosecutors to step in and fill the void.

"The skills they really need to win these cases are not specific insider-trading expertise, they need wiretaps," Macey added. "The only reason they got Raj Rajaratnam is because they had zillions of hours of recordings of him."

The case against Gupta may not be as sensational as the Rajaratnam trial, which featured a cast of colorful characters, many of whom were secretly recorded by the FBI in dozens of wiretaps played to the jury.

But it is closely related to that investigation. Gupta is alleged to have passed on inside information to Rajaratnam about both Goldman Sachs and Procter & Gamble, where he also was a board member.

Some high-profile witnesses could take the stand, including Goldman Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein, who testified during Rajaratnam's trial. Three other current or former Goldman Sachs employees could also be called to testify.

This trial may also be more legally challenging than Rajaratnam's, one the most high-profile insider trading cases since the prosecution of Michael Milken.

In order to convict Rajaratnam on the insider trading charges, Brodsky must convince the jurors that Gupta fed tips to Rajaratnam after Goldman and P&G board meetings and conference calls.

But there are no direct wiretaps in the case. That means the prosecution will have to rely heavily on cooperating witnesses and circumstantial evidence such as the timing of meetings and recorded conversations in which Rajaratnam mentions tips about the companies in question.

Along with another assistant U.S. attorney, Richard Tarlowe, Brodsky will go head to head at the trial with Gary Naftalis, a star defense lawyer from law firm Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel whose avuncular personality contrasts with Brodsky's seriousness. Naftalis did not respond to a request for comment.

INTENSE AND AGGRESSIVE

Brodsky, who graduated from Duke University and received a law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, clerked for a U.S. District Court judge in Puerto Rico and worked at the law firm WilmerHale in Washington before becoming an assistant U.S. attorney.

He is viewed as a commanding presence in the courtroom with large dark eyes and swept back hair. He is known to pace in front of the jury while delivering opening statements or closing arguments.

Other lawyers describe him as being intense and aggressive. Some critics say he can be too aggressive in his dealings with defense lawyers.

Even in his early days at the hard-charging U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan, Brodsky stood out. Former colleagues say he approached each case as unique, never allowing the categories of crimes to dictate the amount of energy he was willing to spend.

In one incident recalled by Daniel Stein, a former assistant U.S. attorney and now a partner at the firm Richards Kibbe & Orbe, Brodsky won a life sentence for a defendant in a drug trafficking case.

"What I remember is Reed throwing himself into this particular case and investigating every last angle," Stein said, adding that the sentence was unusually long and reflected "the amount of energy Reed put into the prosecution."

Among the stable of assistant U.S. attorneys working on the insider-trading crackdown, Brodsky has been much more combative than the more laid-back Jonathan Streeter, his partner on the Rajaratnam case who left the office several months ago. Streeter joined law firm Dechert in February.

Streeter's departure was part of a recent exodus from the U.S. attorney's office.

Andrew Michaelson, who worked as a special assistant U.S. attorney for just under four years, returned to his regular role as an attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and then moved to the law firm Boies Schiller & Flexner this month.

Another prosecutor who recently left is David Leibowitz. And another assistant U.S. attorney, Avi Weitzman, said he would leave the office in June to go into private practice.

In pre-trial hearings in the Gupta case, Brodsky has had one or two heated verbal skirmishes with Naftalis, a veteran New York defense attorney. At a March 16 hearing, both men raised their voices in a dispute over what potentially exculpatory evidence the government was supposed to provide the defense, particularly regarding an unidentified Goldman employee who may have been tipping Galleon.

"He made all of these grandiose claims in this courtroom in January claiming this was the first time he had heard of this," Brodsky said. He was interrupted by Naftalis interjecting: "I didn't say that."

Brodsky then conceded that Naftalis had only implied that evidence had been withheld from him. To which Naftalis replied: "Yes, I was very careful, and you're not."

Yet while they may square off in the courtroom, it is not all business between Brodsky and Naftalis.

On Tuesday, Brodsky will join with Naftalis at a swearing-in ceremony for new assistant U.S. attorneys. One of those being sworn-in is Naftalis's son Josh. Another of Naftalis's sons, Ben, is already an assistant prosecutor.
